B-29 Superfortress
Bombers Over Japan, 1944 - 1945
Solitaire game by Steve Dixon and Shawn Rife

B-29 Superfortress is a solitaire game featuring the technologically most advanced bomber of the Second World War - the B-29 - flying as part of the Twentieth Air Force from the Marianas Islands against targets in and around Japan in late 1944 and 1945. The game puts you in the cockpit of a B-29 Superfortress as you fly your missions over Japan. Your goal: sucessfully complete a tour of 35 missions and return home a hero for bringing the war with Japan to a close without a bloody hard-fought invasion of the homeland.

Your missions will be varied: high level, low level, day and night. You will face fighter attacks, flak, searchlight spotting, and bad weather; not to mention damage to your aircraft to include a shattered windshiled and compromised cabin pressure, loss of oxygen supply, damaged landing gear, knocked out navigation or communication equipment, ruptured fuel tanks, inoperable machine gun armament, and just about anything else that can go wrong with a 100 ton aircraft flying 1,500 miles to it's target only to be met with fierce resistance from a determined enemy.

    Very Impressed with High Quality

Posted by James Michael Chambers on Nov 5th 2022

I am an old wargamer, having started while in Junior High with Avalon Hill, SPI, Victory Games, and others. My first major board wargame was Panzer Leader from AH. I loved playing the line of solitaire games from AH and Victory Games such as B-17 Queen of the Skies, Ambush, Carrier Strike, Patton's Best. etc. I stopped playing board wargames in the 90's when I switched to computer wargames from AH,360 Pacific, SSI, and the like. I purchased three games (B-29 Superfortress, Target for Today, and Target for Tonight at the same time. I have not yet had a chance to play any of them, but I must say I am very impressed with the quality of the products. The boxes are made from high quality cardboard and the printing is very crisp and clear. The rule books and guides are very legible, professionally arranged, and also high quality. The counters are excellent looking - very high quality just like AH used to make. The only concern I have is the map is not a mounted map like what AH used to do with their map boards. All in all, I am quite pleased with the presentation and look/feel of the contents. Legion Wargames also included for free the Target for Today expansion, which I was not expecting. Thank you for the addition, it is much appreciated. I am impressed with Legion Wargames, their products, and customer support. My games were delivered on time and undamaged. I will definitely do business with Legion Wargames again. Can't wait to play...

    Amazingly Immersive

Amazing what you can do with a pile of charts, two dice, and your imagination. A player aid with a turn sequence would be very helpful, though.

    B 29 Onto Japan

Game plays very well and is quite enjoyable. Counter are of very good quality. Board is the only let down to the game. I would of paid more to have the board made of cardboard stock. Otherwise 9 out of 10. Looking forward to buying the expansion in the future.
